On Saturday September 13th a group of veterans and their family gathered at Zaepfel Preserve for an informative nature walk centered on finding various mushrooms and determining their identity.

Dawn Weiman, who is considered an expert in the field of mushroom knowledge, and her husband Matt came up from the Pittsburgh Pa area to conduct this event.

The weather was beautiful, the trees were just beginning to change color and we were able to locate many different types of mushrooms. Upon completion of the walk, we all gathered at the Firefly house where Dawn took the time to talk about each type of mushroom and answer any questions. Participants were able to experience nature's beauty in this wonderful setting.

The event was attended by sixteen people and was sponsored by Veterans 4 Christ through the generosity of Zaepfel Preserve and its Board of Directors.

From all the participants, Thank You and may God forever bless this Preserve.

Sincerely,

Wes Tessey
